Macro Nature
In my landscape photography, I see the beauty of nature at its finest. I create work that emulates the perfect authenticity of natural landscapes. I hope that people will enjoy my work and through it, come to find the beauty and inspiration that is encapsulated within the natural wonders of the United States.
The photos included in this body of work are landscapes from all over the United States, ranging from mountains and forests, to bodies of water. My style is geared towards making my photos look as natural as possible, avoiding heaving editing, however, I love to experiment with color and saturation. As a Nikon user with multiple standard and wide angle lenses, I personally love the brand because the colors are typically more vibrant and richer than other camera brands and their DSLRs are generally easier to use than others. Plus, I am (unashamedly) biased towards Nikon, because my first professional camera was a Nikon. As a landscape photographer, it is important that I get as much of the scenery and in detail as I can. It is also important to get good ambient lighting, therefore, most of my photos are taken in the early morning or late evening.
Landscape photography has always been a part of who I am. As a young girl, I would use my cheap, digital camera to take pictures of nature and landscapes when traveling with my family. We would go to National Parks and the Sierra Foothills of California, where I would learn to perfect my technique and develop my style over the years. One of my great inspirations for landscape photography is photography icon, Ansel Adams. I grew up looking at old books of his work on Yosemite National Park. His photographic techniques in tone and lighting in black and white photography always impressed me and are techniques that I incorporate into my own work. Overall, my love for nature and extraordinary landscapes are the inspiration behind my work and are what keep me motivated in making beautiful, authentic landscape photographs that people can enjoy for years to come.
